Why We Went Bright (and Why We're Sticking With It)

When we were designing Muckee, retailers told us what sells and that was neutrals and pastels. Soft, safe, inoffensive.

I listened. And then I ignored it completely :-)

I kept thinking that when you're wiping spaghetti sauce off your toddler's face for the third time that day, the last thing you want is a washcloth that's going to look permanently grubby. White? It goes dingy after two uses. Beige? It then might as well be brown. Pastels? Ideal in theory, stained in practice.

So we went bright. Pink, blue, green, the kind of colours that stand out against your kitchen bench and actually feel fun to use. Not for Instagram aesthetics (though they look good there too!), but because bright colours hide the inevitable mess. A stain on hot pink doesn't scream "gross." It just looks like part of the story.

And the bonus? they make mealtime feel less of a chore. Your little human’s face is covered in yogurt? At least you're wiping it with something that feels a bit joyful, not a sad beige cloth that's seen better days (sorry, but true!).

Neutrals are sophisticated and they match everything. They feel grown up and intentional. I have a strictly white and grey wardrobe and house aesthetic, so I live that world, but with two kids under 3.5 (and baby number three on the way), practicality wins over aesthetics every single time. And i’d like to think with Muckee you don’t have to choose!

Muckee is bright because messy is real. Your washcloth should be able to handle the chaos without looking like it's falling apart. Because when you're in the thick of it with little humans, you deserve something that feels a bit more like a friend and a bit less like a chore.

Bright for kids, stylish for grown-ups. And honestly? Now I realise that bold colours feel way more stylish than something trying to blend in and failing.

That's why we chose colour. And we're going with it.
