Muckee Is About More Than Washcloths
Share
When I started The Muckee Co., I knew I wanted to make something useful. Something that solved a problem I had as a Mum. Something soft enough for little faces, practical enough for real family life and designed with all the messy bits of parenting in mind.
But I also knew I wanted Muckee to stand for something bigger than the product.
That’s why 10% of every Muckee purchase is donated to PANDA (Perinatal Anxiety & Depression Australia).
PANDA supports Australians experiencing perinatal mental health challenges, including anxiety and depression, as well as the people who care for them.
There’s a very personal reason I chose PANDA. The Muckee Co. started during a period of my own life when I was struggling with my mental health. Having babies is a whole thing!
Coming from Corporate, I love a big PowerPoint with big purpose statements, but I don’t think I truly ‘got’ what having a purpose behind a business could mean until I created Muckee. And maybe sometimes a business can just make a really good product and that's enough.
But for me, Muckee was born out of a period of my life that changed me (and still is). So it felt right that the business could give something back to other families who might be going through their own difficult season.
10% of every purchase. Every Muckee purchase. Every time.
It’s a small contribution, but I hope that over time it can become something meaningful.
And there’s a bigger part of this story that I’ve been sitting on for a while. In a couple of weeks, it will be one year since I was diagnosed with postnatal anxiety.
I’ve thought a lot about whether to share that part of my story here, but I think I’m ready.
So, next time, I’ll tell you a little more about what happened, what I’ve learned and how, somewhat unexpectedly, finding my way through that period led me here.
Muckee is about washcloths, but it was never just about washcloths.
